If summer makes you skip your morning walks, think of Yediyur Lake. This is the place to get motivated to resume your walk.

The Yediyur Lake on Kanakapura Road in Jayanagar area spread across 16000 sq.mt (approx.), is done up well. When you see through the iron railings around the compound, you get to see many people – young and old – walking, jogging and slow running in the path around the lake.

As you get down to walk, you hear birds chirping from all the directions. And mild music flows through the speakers that are shaped like lawn lamps. The level of volume is set to give the walkers a soothing effect. When you look to your right, you get to see a brick wall for birds to perch on. Painted as ‘Bio diversity bird wall,’ the brick wall stands out facing the lake.

As you walk along, you get to see ‘Pakshi Dhaama’, a place for rare species of birds,

inaugurated recently. This attracts the migratory birds that visit the lake during the summertime every year. A bio-diversity bird tower at the lake premises also serves this purpose. If you are a keen observer, you will get to see a lot of varieties of birds.  Some rabbits can also been seen.

A small play area, huge boards with information about the visiting birds, a bird watch bay and the sight of swans in the water attract children.

The Yediyur Lake is open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m every day. Don’t forget to take along your children!
